Having completed a three day ACCESS 2019 conference at Luna Park Sydney, it is time to reflect. A very successful event and a learning experience for me. When you have an audience with many wheelchair users and delegates with guide dogs, there are new event logistics that come in to play. For example, where is the closest green grass to toilet the dogs; are conference tables raised to at least 75cm so a wheelchair can fit under the table; how do you get multiple wheelchair users down the stairs in the event of an emergency; is the stage ramp at the right gradient; is the stage edge marked with white tape; can the AV team accommodate a hearing loop and live captioning? Despite having run events for many years, there are still things to learn. #ACCESS2019

Once again, glad to be assisting the Energy Policy Institute of Australia with their third event of the year.
Author Mr Matthew Warren will provide an overview of his book, focusing on ‘unresolved issues and future ideas’ of the energy market and then take questions from the audience. The event will be followed by networking drinks where you'll have the opportunity to 'get up close' to the author and mingle with like-minded colleagues in the Energy sector. Date and Time: Monday 29 April 2019 at 5pm until 6.00 pm followed by refreshments Venue: Piper Alderman, Level 23 Governor Macquarie Tower, 1 Farrer Place, Sydney Cost: $20 for EPIA members; $30 for Non-EPIA members Register: https://epia-blackout.eventbrite.com.au Matthew Warren is an economist and journalist. He has spent the past 15 years working for the electricity, downstream gas, renewable energy and coal industries. He was Chief Executive of the Australian Energy Council, the Energy Supply Association of Australia and the Clean Energy Council. He was also Environment Writer at The Australian newspaper and worked for the New South Wales Minerals Council. He likes trail running and tabouli. Blackout - For 20 years Australia has been in political denial about the seismic changes occurring in the way we power our country. Successive governments continue to tell people that power prices will fall while the lights stay on. Debate is reduced to two equally preposterous narratives: coal-fired, climate change indifference versus an impossibly utopian renewable energy future. This nonsense swirls around an incredulous public while power prices rise, the grid is stretched, energy becomes political poison and the earth warms. How did it come to this and how can we find our way out of this mess? Matthew Warren has worked for all sides of the energy industry, is regularly attacked for being too pro-coal and too pro-renewables, and writes without fear or favour. He has been lobbying for a national climate and electricity policy for over a decade. With an entertaining and fascinating narrative, Blackout cuts through the waffle to chart the disintegration of Australia’s energy security, call out what is holding us back, and plot the way for a brighter future. With another new year dawning, I am grateful to all my previous and current clients for their faith in my services.
2019 is slowing filling up, but I'm always happy to consider how I can help others. 2019 sees me helping clients with the following events and activities:
